Memorial Weekend in Brian Head

Scott was able to trade a tiny bit of work for a weekend stay at a gorgeous cabin in Brian Head so we headed up there for Memorial Weekend. We had a great time, one of the best vacations our family has had I think. The cabin was awesome, had all the "neccessities" you would need like a pool table, arcade games, 7 bedrooms (would sleep 25 comfortably in beds),5 bathrooms, theater, beautiful views, sauna, top of the line kitchen (with a TV in it, a big plus with the kids :), and lots of comfy chairs and hiding places.

It rained most of the time we were there but we didn't care, we were having a great time inside. The cabin truly was beautiful and something we would not likely have the opportunity to stay in but the best part of the trip was escaping our busy life and focusing only on each other. We read (I read a really good book called Burying Our Swords by Kevin Hinkley), played games, watched movies, relaxed. One of the highlights for the kids was learning how to play pool.

Dylan & Cate just had to go on a hike!

Scripture reading Sunday morning

The sun decided to come out the day we were leaving so we stopped on the way home to have a picnic & hike around. It was a great weekend!

Braeden's 14th B-Day

It feels weird to have your kids get older. So far we are all enjoying the "young adult" years, Braed is a great guy to have around, but knowing that I will never hold his tiny hand or hear his sweet little boy voice ever again does break my heart a little. Anyway, we love Braeden! He loves getting older and having a little more freedom (I'm sure he loves the added responsibilitis too :). He likes hangin out with friends; staying up talking to mom & dad; watching movies; music; playing the piano; reading, lots of reading; and I hate to say it but girls! He is looking forward to going to dances, seminary and another year at Commonwealth this fall. Happy Birthday Braeden, We LOVE You!

Wildlife Museum Field Trip

Cate's class went to the Rosenbruch Wildlife Museum on a field trip this week. She had a great time with her friends and she loved seeing all the cool animals. Couldn't quite figure out if they were real or not and didn't understand that yes they were real but not alive :-). She of course had to take care of Gabe, she's such a little mommy, I'm not sure if he liked it too much though. Her favorite animal she saw was the giraffe she said but she really liked the butterflies too. At the end of the tour the kids watched a movie and I couldn't resist getting a picture of her rubbing her "boyfriend" Ethan's back. Too cute but hope she grows out of it :-)!

Cate's Year of Learning

Cate has had a great year at Miss Janae's Montessori school. She loves going with her cousin, Gavin, and seeing all the animals, especially the bunnies. I wondered sometimes if all she did was color but she has learned so much. She is starting to read & write really well and knows lots of little tid bits about artists, geography and science. I stopped in one day and took some pics of her working. Her favorite work has been coloring :-), apple cutting, the bead counter, writing numbers and reading books & new words.
